Unmercenary Sacred Music

Notes on Updating

Since the beginning of this website, many things have changed. The most important concerning this site is my education at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary. More specifically, over the 2001-2003 school years, I studied liturgical composition with Mr. Mark Bailey. For the sake of my beloved teacher, I must say the following; he is not responsible for all the misaccented words, parallel octaves and fifths, poor voice-leading and unreasonable ranges that occur in many of the harmonized settings. Almost all of the works on this site were done before studying under Mr. Bailey. Having said that, it is my intention to correct as much as possible on this website. My apologies to all the tenors, baritones, and basses that have had to endure these settings. Those items that you like that are corrected after May of 2002, you can thank Mr. Bailey's instruction. Those things you do not like you can ascribe to the undereducated author.
